Join Mid Wales Opera as a Board Member!

Are you passionate about making opera accessible and vibrant for everyone? Mid Wales Opera is on the lookout for dynamic new Board Members to help shape our future!

For over 35 years, Mid Wales Opera has brought the magic of opera to every corner of Wales and the Marches. We offer opportunities for early career performers and inspire all generations through our outreach projects in local communities and schools.

Despite a funding blow last year which saw the company lose its multi-year ACW support, Powys County Council’s grant through the Shared Prosperity Fund has enabled the company to pursue a three-year core plan based on the highly successful SmallStages model of touring. To join us on this next stage of our journey we are excited to welcome individuals from all walks of life who share our vision that art is for everyone.

We need to make our organisation diverse, inclusive and welcoming at every level. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse board and nurturing an inclusive environment where everyone can be their authentic selves. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and communities, with particular encouragement for those from diverse age groups, those with disabilities, various gender identities, sexual orientations, races, and religions or beliefs.

As a Board Member, you will:

  • Make a Difference: Help shape the future of an esteemed opera company and ensure the arts remain accessible to all.
  • Develop Skills: Gain valuable experience in governance, strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, and more.
  • Expand Your Network: Connect with like-minded individuals, arts professionals, and community leaders.
  • Enjoy Cultural Experiences: Receive invitations to exclusive events, performances, and behind-the-scenes experiences.
  • Personal Fulfillment: Play a crucial role in bringing joy and inspiration to diverse audiences through the power of music.

If you believe in the inclusive and transformative power of music and have skills in fundraising, marketing, or Welsh language, we’d love for you to join us. Please email Gareth Williams, Chair of the MWO Board, at gareth3obc@aol.com, and copy in admin@midwalesopera.co.uk.

Keep MWO on the Road

Thanks to the enormous outpouring of love – and money! – from our friends and supporters, and from opera lovers across the country – and a hugely important grant from Powys County Council’s Shared Prosperity Fund allocation, we are now actively developing our artistic plans for the next two years… find out more …or…
