Alanna Pennar-Macfarlane

Biography

Alanna is a Bassoonist and Contrabassoonist originally from Clackmannanshire in Scotland and now based in Cardiff. Alanna started the bassoon at 15 years old after playing the clarinet for many years. Having found the right fit of instrument she auditioned for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors programme and attended for two years. She gained her undergraduate degree at the Royal Academy of Music then studied for her postgraduate degree at the Royal College of Music where she graduated with a distinction. Alanna has been lucky enough to play in venues all over the world and has had the opportunity to work with professional orchestras including: the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Britten Sinfonia.
