Good News!
We have had confirmation that Mid Wales Opera will retain its Revenue Funded status with Arts Council Wales. For some months ACW has been conducting a review of the organisations it regularly supports and we are pleased that the proposals in our business plan submitted last December have drawn positive comment and endorsement from the review.
There is more about the ACW decision on their website www.artswales.org.uk
What is Opera?
"What is Opera?" Our education project, in partnership with Theatr Hafren aimed at Primary Schools, and offering an introduction to the exciting world of opera, was piloted in the Newtown area on 25 June 2010. Clare Williams, experienced arts practitioner and Eirian Owen, well-known accompanist and musical director of Cor Godre'r Aran, led the half-day workshop first at Caersws School and then again for Maesyrhandir School at Theatr Hafren. It is hoped that the project will be rolled out over the next few months. For further information please contact the MWO office.
